Oak Terrace Preserve’s First Bioswales are Complete

Bioswale VegetationThe neighborhood has eagerly awaited the completion of the first bioswales.  These high-tech rain gardens add key features to the neighborhood’s green qualities and, when fully established, provide a beautiful and important feature to the neighborhood.  These little gardens provide habitat for beneficial insects, amphibians, reptiles, and even birds.

Oak Terrace Preserve’s innovative Low Impact Design integrates the use of bioswales and cettling areas in poket parks to help absorb rain water rather letting all of it go to water treatment plants.  This not only helps reduce the amount of water that is sent to expensive water treatment facilities, but it helps the local environment by allowing that water to be filtered naturally before it reaches nearby Filbin creek, significantly improving water quality over tradional storm water management .
