Montessori Research
A study published in the September 2006 issue of the journal Science compared children at a public inner-city Montessori with children who attended traditional schools.  The following are facts about Montessori students from that study:

• Performed better  on standardized tests of reading and math
• Engaged more in positive interaction on the playground
• Had more advanced social cognition and executive control
• Had more concern for fairness and justice
• Wrote more creative essays with more complex sentence structure
• Selected more positive responses to social dilemmas
• Had a sense of community at their school

• Has an absolute rating of Excellent
• Has tripled in size
• Has 144 students with 119 on the waiting list
• Is a county-wide magnet
• Uses all state and Montessori certified teachers with two teachers Nationally Board Certified and one National Board Candidate
• Attracts families that have previously chosen to leave the public school system
• Rarely has discipline issues because of a supportive learning environment
• Was the first public Montessori  school in South Carolina
