KaBOOM Playground – Volunteers Needed

Dear OTP Residents,

I am on the construction committee for the KaBOOM playground going up behind the Green House in November.  We are looking for Build Captains to help direct the effort and general volunteers.  The Build Captain job would require you at a minimum to attend a training time during the Prep Day, November 3rd and then be there the day of the building on November 5th, at the most being available both days all day.  The planning and preparation are being done by the committees (although help with some committees is still needed), so if you could commit some time during this week, I’m sure it will be a rewarding experience to see such an effort pulled together.  No construction experience is required.  The process is pretty systematized, you just need to be able to direct volunteers and help everyone stay on task.  There will be music, food and a lot of good company.  We are in need of about 3 Build Captains and then multiple volunteers.  Volunteers will be unloading equipment and getting everything set up on the Prep Day (a lot of heavy lifting).  Build Day will have the opportunity for volunteers to assemble the playground, attend registration, serve food, etc.  There will be a celebration at the end.

Tuesday the 3rd: Prep Day 1 Tentative Schedule:
Volunteers arrive & register: 8:00 am
Build Captain training: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm (during lunch)
Registration, Playmaker training: 1:30pm – 2:15pm
All prep work completed by 4:00 pm

Wednesday the 4th: Prep Day 2 Tentative Schedule:
Volunteers 8:00 am – 4:00 pm if necessary

Build Day Schedule: Thursday the 5th!!!
Build Captains arrive: 6:15 am
Volunteers arrive & register: 8:00 am
Kick-Off ceremony: 8:30 am
Lunch in shifts:  11:30am – 12:30pm
Ribbon-cutting ceremony: 2:30 pm
