Green Village Tour This Saturday
The most eco-conscious road race in the Charleston area is at 8am Saturday April 18th with the 3rd Annual TrySports Green Village Tour 8k Race / 5k Walk, an event hosted by The Sustainability Institute. The race course, which starts on Noisette Blvd on The Navy Yard, winds through the neighborhoods of Park Circle North Charleston highlighting many sustainable developments such as Mixson, Half Moon Outfitters and Oak Terrace Preserve before ending on-site at Mixson.
The Institute has taken many steps to make this a green event such as Whole Food Race Packs, VIP parking for carpoolers, lead race cyclists and more.
For serious runners, the race will be timed on a certified course.
The race is family and dog-friendly and the after-race party will have many fun games and information from our green sponsors!
Participants can register at the TrySports store in Mt. Pleasant and receive a free t-shirt, cap or visor. Alternatively, they can register online via www.sustainabilityinstitutesc.org/gvt. Registration is $20 before, $25 day-of. Kids under 16 and dogs run free! All participants will receive a FREE ticket to the Charleston Battery season home opener (complete with fireworks) that night!
Afterward, participants can enjoy the Charleston Earth Day events in neighboring Park Circle.
For more information on how to participate or volunteer, visit the Sustainability Institute’s website.
