Grand Reopening of the GreenHouse Learning Center
On June 25th, The Sustainability Institute and partners will be hosting the Grand Reopening of the GreenHouse Learning Center at 1441 East Montague Avenue from 1 pm to 6 pm.
The newly renovated and improved facility, touted as one of the greenest offices in the region, will serve both as the headquarters of The Sustainability Institute’s Energy Conservation Corps program as well as a public resource center for learning about cutting-edge, sustainable technologies. The event will showcase the designs and products from industry leaders and local artisans in the Charleston area.
The newest LED lighting technology, cabinets handcrafted from wood that was sourced from sustainably managed forests, customized recycled glass countertops, reclaimed wood flooring and cork flooring, a solatube that directs natural light, spray foam insulation, dual-flushed toilet technology that uses captured rainwater — these are a few examples of the inspiring products that you will learn about. On hand will be the staff of our Energy Conservation Corps, the Institute’s nationally recognized ‘green jobs’ program that trains and certifies at-risk young adults to become weatherization professionals.
Music entertainment by local artists Mac Leaphart & Wilson Pippen. Enjoy food from an outside grill and refreshments.
