Charleston County School District Starts Construction on School of the Arts and Academic Magnet High School Shared Campus
Adjacent to Oak Terrace Preserve, new construction is under way for the Charleston County Special Day School and School of the Arts and Academic Magnet High School Shared Campus. At the end of the 2008 school year, the Special Day School was represented by a block of trailers. When schools starts in the fall of 2009, the Special Day School will have a new home. Main construction is complete and finishing touches and landscaping are being completed now.
Similarily, the School of the Arts, currently located at the center of the Oak Terrace Preserve neighborhood and the Academic Magnet High School, located on the former naval base in North charleston, will be moving to their new campus currently under construction adjacent to the neighborhood. These two exceptional schools are moving to a combined campus that is set to open in the Fall of 2009. The new campus will feature several green innovations (See the link below for details).
The Charleston County School District is still considering it’s options for reuse of the existing School fo the Arts Campus.
