Bioswales at work today!
The brand new bioswales at Oak Terrace Preserve are working as designed and are performing well. The neighborhood is already working on ways to improve them from a functional and aesthetic perspective, but as the video shows they are effectively capturing, cleaning and storing the “first-flush” of the rain event.
Oak Terrace Preserve’s First Bioswales are Complete
The neighborhood has eagerly awaited the completion of the first bioswales. These high-tech rain gardens add key features to the neighborhood’s green qualities and, when fully established, provide a beautiful and important feature to the neighborhood. These little gardens provide habitat for beneficial insects, amphibians, reptiles, and even birds.

Oak Terrace Preseve Pocket Park Update
With 17 pocket parks planned for the neighborhood, Oak Terrace Preserve will have open space on most every block. The innovative bioswales will help handle storm-water runoff and create beautiful sidewalk side gardens. The first of these improvements will get started this September.

Pervious Alley Construction Update for Oak Terrace Preserve
Work on the alley ways in Phase 1 of the neighborhood are underway. The first section was completed in June and the second section will begin in mid-July. The construction helps complete the look and feel for the neighborhood and the pervious pavers are providing an excellent service to the community and the environment.
