Chili Cook Off to Support Local Schools

This Sunday, November 2nd from 3-5pm, the “Chili for the Children” event to benefit school wide initiatives at Goose Creek High School will be held at the Michaux Conservancy adjacent to Riverfront Park in North Charleston.

Bioswales at work today!

The brand new bioswales at Oak Terrace Preserve are working as designed and are performing well.  The neighborhood is already working on ways to improve them from a functional and aesthetic perspective, but as the video shows they are effectively capturing, cleaning and storing the “first-flush” of the rain event.

Oak Terrace Preserve’s First Bioswales are Complete

The neighborhood has eagerly awaited the completion of the first bioswales.  These high-tech rain gardens add key features to the neighborhood’s green qualities and, when fully established, provide a beautiful and important feature to the neighborhood.  These little gardens provide habitat for beneficial insects, amphibians, reptiles, and even birds.
